About Me. Broadcast News Producer, MAMC.

About head shotHello, and welcome!

My name is Chris Peralta, and I am a news producer at CBS3 Eyewitness News in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. I produce Eyewitness News This Morning at 4:30 a.m. Previously, I was a producer at WTVR-TV CBS 6 in Richmond, Virginia. I am a bilingual TV news producer, web and social media producer, video editor and motion graphics designer. I have a Master of Arts in Mass Communication from the University of Florida College of Journalism and Communications, a Bachelor of Science in Telecommunication with a specialization in news, and a Bachelor of Arts with a major in Political Science, both from the University of Florida.

As a news producer, I design, implement, and execute television newscasts, from helping to plan coverage by station news crews, to selecting stories to include in a newscast, to writing stories and creating graphics, to overseeing the production during broadcast. I work on many different newscasts, samples of which I have available here. I have also worked extensively on the web as well, contributing stories and posting to social media accounts.

I have been honored with two regional Emmy awards. Both were for newscasts I co-produced as a morning producer at WTVR, one in 2015, one in 2016.

Apart from my work as a news producer, I am also a video editor and motion graphics designer. I am familiar with non-linear editing on Final Cut Pro 7, Adobe Premiere Pro CS6, and Avid MediaCentral and Media Composer. I am also familiar with several other programs of Adobe Creative Suite, including Photoshop, After Effects, and Audition. I also have experience shooting video. Samples of my work are also available here.

When I am not in the newsroom, I spend time volunteering in the community. I am a volunteer with the American Red Cross Eastern Pennsylvania Region, where I help in the communications office and in the volunteer services department. When I was in Richmond, Virginia, I volunteered at the Virginia Museum of Fine Arts coat check desk.

My long-term goal is to become a newsroom manager, as an executive producer, news director, or broadcast operation executive. However, that will come after several years of working as a news producer on a variety of newscasts.
